A Gift to Visit Home
Last weekend was a very special time for me to be able to go home to Minnesota and see my family. Mom has been in the hospital since March 10. She had two plus weeks in ICU and now is in a rehabilitation program.
She has made incredible progress! Her cancer doctor said that he has never seen anyone as sick as mom come this far. We are thanking the Lord for sparing her life. It appears that she will be able to get out of the hospital in one or two more weeks.
I was able to be home for a long weekend from Friday through Monday. I especially enjoyed one-on-one time with both my mom and my dad. Three mornings, dad and I had devotions and prayer together. Each night at the hospital, I was able to read to mom from her favorite devotional book, “Daily Light.” It was fun to have mom quoting many verses from memory as I would read them.
This picture was taken on Sunday afternoon during a family gathering at the hospital. Unfortunately, we missed our opportunity to take a group picture. The little girls in the picture belong to my nephew and niece, Matt and Jenny Wilson. A highlight on this day was for all of us to sing together with Mom, “There is a Redeemer,” “The Doxology,” and “Amazing Grace.”
Last Tuesday after I left, mom had an opportunity to get out for a ride to a different hospital to meet with her cancer doctor. Then on Wednesday, there was a meeting with the rehab doctors regarding her progress and a plan for her to get out of the hospital all together. They have given her permission to take an outing this weekend, so on Saturday, she will go shopping with my sister Dawn.
Praise the Lord with us for mom’s progress! Pray that her throat will continue to heal from the trach. Pray for continued strengthing for her body and that she’ll be able to go home soon. Please also thank the Lord with me for making it possible for me to go home last weekend!

Paul, I love reading the story. I know the story already, but it’s so great to read about it. It was great to see you, and you KNOW the girls loved it too
