Central Mexico

CCI Mexico National Convention--Part 1

I’m finally back at the blog tonight. The last several weeks have been a blur of activities for school and trips into Mexico. Sorry for the delay in posting pictures of this trip to Tabasco, Mexico for CCI (Christian Camping International).

I had the privilege of traveling with Bob Kracht from RGBI and fellow language student Eric Lockamy. We rode the bus from McAllen, Texas to Monterrey, Mexico where we stayed overnight with Victor Hugo and his wife Gloria and their family. The next day, all of us flew from Monterrey to Villahermosa, Tabasco for the conference.

Upon arriving in Villahermosa, we were treated to lunch at an open air restaurant. The fish was cooked on a wood fire grill and was moist and very delicious!

The conference was held on the grounds of a Presbyterian seminary. The first afternoon there were ice-breaker and get acquainted games. That evening the opening program had a lot of Tabasqueño cultural pageantry.

The youth leadership in Christian camping in Tabasco put on a drama depicting the heart and purpose of CCI.

Christian camping is a very effective tool of evangelism being used of God to reach a lost world for Christ. Christian Camping International (CCI) is an alliance of Christian camping associations from Australia, Canada, the Far East, Latin America, New Zealand, United States, South Africa, Japan, and Brazil. The purpose of CCI is to help develop effective Christian camps, conferences, and retreat ministries.

I have been very involved in CCI/USA (now called CCCA) and the Wisconsin Section.  Now through our ministry at El Monte, I am very glad to continue involvement with CCI Mexico which is part of CCI Latin America. I’ll tell more about this year’s Mexico convention in my next post.
