Christian Camping International Mexico National Convention
November 13-16, 2009
This year I had the privilege of attending my 6th annual Mexico National CCI Conference in the past 7 years since I started in 2003. It was through that conference in 2003 that the Lord opened the door for our ministry here in Mexico.
I was invited through my connections with Camp Forest Springs in Wisconsin. It was fun to take pictures at this year’s conference of the Camp Forest Springs connections!
The International Impact of Camp Forest Springs
Pictured below are people who were in attendance here this year in Monterrey, Mexico who have been on staff at Camp Forest Springs.
This next picture are all who have ever been to Camp Forest Springs.
I praise God for these wonderful friends and for the long reach and blessing of Camp Forest Springs’ ministry.
Now for some pictures of the conference itself
This year’s CCI broke all records for attendance--there were over 150 people! Dan Pervorse from Georgia, USA was the keynote speaker in our general sessions. Dan is also pictured above in the CFS photos and CFS was instrumental in his coming to Monterrey.
There were four main seminar tracks for the workshops. Dan led some and Kerra (our daughter) and Gerardo Santiago (from Guadalajara, Mexico and a graduate of the CFS LTD program) did some of his translation work.
The mornings were cool but beautiful! Bob Kracht from Rio Grande Bible Institute in Texas did the morning devotions outside with an incredible view of the mountains. The name of the camp is “Sierra Linda” which means “Beautiful Mountains” and it’s easy to see how they got the name.
Following the formal time, we broke up for some individual time with the Lord. I really enjoyed how the mornings started!
Here are some random pictures of the workshops and meal times when all of us were together. Kerra and Joelle, our two daughters, were able to attend the conference with me.
My Workshop
I had a special blessing this year as this was the first time I was able to teach a whole workshop in Spanish without a translator! I thank the Lord for this! It was a shared workshop with my special friend, Raul Guido, the camp director from Campamento Kikoten.
Sightseeing
On the last full day of the convention, we took a sightseeing trip into the beautiful city of Monterrey, Mexico. The mountain that you see in several of these pictures is called “La Silla” because it looks like the “mount or saddle of the king”.
We visited the beautiful river walk that flows through the downtown area.
This was Joelle’s first time to attend one of these conferences and she really enjoyed making friends with Christian camping leaders from all around Mexico.
Next year the conference will be held at El Monte! ...more about that in a future post...
