El Monte Update Part 3 of 3

Major Gift Given to Build First Camp Cabin!

image

A couple weeks ago we received news from our Mexico team that a major gift has been given for the first camp cabin.  I asked if I could post this on our website and the reply came back, “Yes!  Please add any of it to your website.  It is SUCH a great answer to prayer...the First Cabin!  Many blessings to you all as you do a good, hard thing there at RGBI.”

Praise the Lord with us for this tremendous answer to prayer!

As I understand the story, there was a work team that came from Ohio in January.  One of the men that had planned to come got sick and was not able to travel with his team so he sent a gift of $30,000 to El Monte.

This money is designated to help build the very first cabin.  With cost projections, we believe that this amount should build the complete cabin that will house up to 12 people.  It is our hope that there might be enough left over to get an additional cabin started.

The Lord willing, we plan to eventually build a total of thirty-two of these twelve-person cabins.  As we grow it is our goal to have four hundred beds in three separate camp “zones”.

The picture above shows a portion of the campsite plan that includes two of the camping “zones”.  Each camp zone will have its own picnic shelters, meeting spaces and rustic kitchen.  They will also have their own pools and recreation areas.

In addition to the money for the cabin, we have money in-hand to build the first swimming pool.  This is very important since the climate at El Monte is quite warm.  Swimming pools will be a necessary program element for the camps.  Here is a picture of the excavation for the first pool area.

How does all the digging get done?  God has provided a wonderful backhoe for the El Monte project and already it has proven to be the right tool for the job!

While much is happening, there is still much to be accomplished!  There are many more buildings to build and of course programs to begin.

In order for camp programs to begin, we will need at least two cabins--one for boys and one for girls.  This would also provide needed housing for work teams that come from various places around Mexico and even around the world to help the development of El Monte progress.

As I prepare to work with the camp and conference aspect of the El Monte Ministry Center, please join me in praising God for His provision.  Please also join in asking God for continued provision and guidance for this project and its ministry.  We are trusting God for 10,000 people won to Christ in the coming years through Christian camping at El Monte!

I join you in Praise to our Lord for these items mentioned in your update.  May the Lord give your team wisdom and discernment in using these funds (and future funds) effectively and appropriately.

10,000 people?  With God...all things are possible.

How come I can’t click on your pictures for a larger view?
