Engulfing the Gulf
You’ve no doubt heard about Hurricane “Ike” by now. Earlier this week, it looked like we were going to be directly in its crosshairs. As ominous as this picture is we think the area we live in will be in the clear. Our skies are now overcast and there is a slight breeze.
This a picture out our east bedroom window. We are expecting some rain and wind, but nothing more than what we might see from the average thunderstorm. Unless the storm suddenly changes direction, we are planning to go on with life as normal. While we are thanking the Lord, we are praying with everyone for the safety and protection of those directly in the line of this storm. We are asking the Lord to diminish its strength and impact. As of now, it looks like its wind speeds are dimished from what was earlier predicted but it is still a very dangerous storm.
Here is what we were looking at last Tuesday morning.

This is what we are looking at this Friday afternoon.

Here at the school, on Tuesday morning in chapel, announcements were made about the possibility of preparations and possible evacuation. All of that is past now and in fact, some of the evacuees are coming down here for safety.

We’re staying dry! We haven’t seen any rain and have only had overcast skys and a slight breeze. The “dry side” of the huricane seems to be the “warm side” too. We’re right at 100 degrees today.

I was wondering where you were in relation to the storm. So glad it’s not in your backyard.

Makes a snow storm seem manageable! Stay dry.
