Hurricane Season in Full Swing
Having lived in the West and Midwest all of our lives, hurricanes have always seemed like something a long way away from us. Something you watched on the evening news or read about on the Internet.

This is as close as we’ve ever been to looking one in the face. Though all the current models show Gustav making landfall north of here, we are still in the area of possibility.

The school has posted hurricane preparation information for us, but the storm does not seem too threatening to our location at the moment.
A month ago, Hurricane Dolly made a direct hit here, but thankfully wasn’t a very powerful storm. We were still in Mexico when Dolly made landfall but we’ve seen some of the damage here at RGBI and around the area.
We’re keeping a watchful eye on Gustav, but not sensing danger. In fact, if the storm does track north of us, we will be on the dry side which will bring a welcome change to our weather.
Our prayers are with those who are facing and preparing for the potential of a direct hit from a powerful storm. The next few days will tell.
And the next storm to watch is Hanna…

Ahh, aside from Katrina blasting Lee’s family’s hometown, we have never ever been more aware of a hurricane season with our kidlets in Port-au-Prince! (sorry late with bloggy comments - we were in the DESERT!)

I’ll be praying for you all. The whole RGBI family has been on my mind a lot lately with all the storms down there. Hopefully it won’t affect you!
