It’s a Small World!

For years it has been the case that we almost can’t go anywhere without running into people who have been to Camp Forest Springs!

The other day, Peter and I were working on some landscaping around the pool area here at El Monte.  A small group of people were visiting from Mexico City.  It turns out that they were missionaries and summer interns with Pioneers, another mission organization.  As part of thier tour, we were introduced to them.

When I was introduced, someone mentioned that I was from one of the best camps in the upper mid-west.  When they heard this, they asked, “Camp Forest Springs!?” Two of the summer interns have been there in the past as campers!

In the picture above, Megan Allen (front row, far right, facing you) is from Platteville, WI and knows several people in her church who have been to CFS.  She knows Matt and Julie Huffman who are missionary staff members at camp.  We have several other friends in common!

The gal in the front center of the picture is Stephanie Rushing from Omaha, Nebraska.  She came to CFS for Wintertainment for several years with her church group from Omaha.  That group from Omaha included Sam and Tawnya Smith who are now married and on missionary staff at CFS.

If I’m not mistaken, these gals didn’t know each other before coming to serve with Pioneers this summer in Mexico.  It always amazes me that things like this can happen; where we come together in one little spot eight hundred miles south of the southern tip of Texas and we have Camp Forest Springs and mutual friends in common.

It was a reminder again of the privilege of being part of the Body of Christ and of the privilege of being connected and serving in the ministry of Christian camping!

What fun to have a lap top and be able to get e-mail from you.  It was good to talk to you Paul and with this gadget we will be able to keep in touch.

God Bless—Bev

Great to be able to keep with you through your newsletters. I am still excited for the ministry you will have in Mexico and will pray for your family as you come to mind. Have a taco for me!
