Laying Sod at the First Cabin

image

If I’m not mistaken, we layed 5 truckloads of sod and worked all day in temps that reached 90+ degrees by late afternoon.  Needless to say, we drank a lot of water and had a few sore muscles the next day or two!

An in-ground sprinkler system has already been installed to keep the grass green in the dry season.  With the heat of the day, we had to get the grass wet quickly to keep it from drying out.

It’s remarkable how laying grass finishes and defines the look of the area.  It was a job that rewarded our efforts with a feeling of success and change.

Putting a little dirt along all the joints fills in the cracks and makes for a very smooth “yard” when done.

While great progress was made, there’s still more to do!  That seems like an understatement when I see the overall site plan for El Monte, but we are thanking God for a great day and for this area that is taking shape!  So consider yourself invited to bring a work team down and sweat a little in the beautiful Mexican sunshine.  smile

AAAAAHHHHH!  WOW.  That looks amazing.  I can’t believe all the progress.  Any news on when cabin #2 is going to be started?  And does the sod mean there is money again for construction?

So glad to hear you guys made it safely through all the trouble at the border and that you are settling in well.  Have fun at the MK camp and at conference.  And give a big hug to the whole team for me.
