More Exciting Construction News at El Monte
We just received another email from Mexico with new pictures of the construction projects underway at El Monte. If you’ve read the previous El Monte Updates on this blog you’ll recall that I showed pictures of the beginning of the first swimming pool, the missionary student apartment building, and I shared about God’s provision for the first camp cabin.
Here is a pictorial update of what has happened in the last month.
The roof is going on the first missionary student housing unit. This building will have 8 apartments for the missionary school students. The bottom four units will be ready soon and we’re trusting God that the building will be completed before September!
Here are a few more pictures of progress on that building:
The first swimming pool
There are several swimming pools planned on the property and the first is being constructed on the camp ridge of El Monte. A month ago, there was just a large hole in the ground (see blog post on 2/27). Here’s what’s happening with this project now:
The cement has been poured!
The story of God’s provision for the first cabin (see blog post on 2/27) is truly exciting. It’s not that far away that we’ll be able to do much more on-site ministry!
This next picture shows the area that has been cleared for the cabin to be built.
You can see the clearing to the right of the picture. The building in the background is the Palapa or open-air meeting room. It was built a few years ago and has been used by various groups for ministry. It is currently doubling as a carpenter’s shop.
These beautiful kitchen cabinets were made by David Mitchell, one of our new WEC missionaries. There will be many more projects like this as time goes on!
David and his wife were language students here at RGBI and finished last December just before we got here. David has his work cut out for him with many more new buildings to build as El Monte continues to develop.
We are praising God for His continued blessing and provision. Please pray for safety, health, wisdom, direction and for God’s continued provision for these projects and all that will follow. There are a number of work-teams scheduled for this next summer and the Lord willing, much will be accomplished.
Roxanne and I are excited as we look ahead at spending most of June and all of July in Mexico helping at El Monte. It will be a great opportunity to practice our Spanish and a great privilege to work with the people there. We’ll be helping with work-teams and learning a lot about our future home.
Please pray for:
Summer housing for our family in Mexico
Safe travels from Wisconsin all the way down into Mexico in June and back to Texas in August
Health as we transition to new environments
Continued provision from the Lord
The ability to learn and use Spanish well
