Central Mexico

Paul and Kerra to be in Mexico November 15-19

Please pray for Kerra and me as we fly to Mexico this weekend for the CCI/Mexico national conference. CCI stands for Christian Camping International. CCI/Mexico is one of 19 national associations around the globe of people who serve in Christian camping ministry.

This year’s convention is held at Campamento Kikoten, a Mexican Christian camp located near the top of the mountains south of Mexico City. Kerra will be flying from Minneapolis and I will be flying from Philadelphia and we both have short layovers in Houston at different times. I arrive in Mexico an hour and a half ahead of Kerra and we have to find each other in the airport (without cellphones).

Pray for:

  • safety

  • on-time flights

  • finding each other

  • a great conference

  • our time at El Monte

  • We are excited to be able to spend our first night in Mexico at El Monte! It will be good to be with our missionary colleagues and to see the continued progress and development at El Monte (check out the website) since we were last there in July 2006.

On Friday, we will all travel from El Monte to Kikoten for the weekend conference. It ends on Monday which is a national holiday in Mexico. Kerra and I fly out of Mexico on Monday afternoon. We fly to Houston together and then go our separate ways, Kerra back to Minneapolis and I to Philly.

In July of 2006, our whole family spent a week at Kikoten for their kids camp program. Kerra was a counselor, Joelle was a camper, Kyle and Peter worked on the program team, I led devotions for the counselors, and Roxanne kept us all going. It will be fun to see many of our Mexican friends and colleagues there too!

Below are a few pictures from our 2006 visit:

I had to stick this picture in too--that’s Joelle climbing up the climbing tower at Kikoten.  I’m very proud of her.

Well you should be home by now!  I prayed for you as I remember well the Mexico City Airport.  Any troubles?  How was the conference?

We leave for Colorado Wednesday morning.  Have a great Thanksgiving.  See you soon!

    Jim
